What the game stores

Soundbytes does not require an account and does not use advertising or third-party analytics.

Your daily progress, streak, and statistics stay in your browser using local storage. Each guess is sent to the server to check the answer, and the guess text, the try it was made on, and whether it was correct are stored for up to 90 days together with a one-way hash of your visitor token, so the site owner can see what players guessed and how many solved each puzzle.

To show the owner simple daily-player and device counts, the game sets one first-party, HttpOnly visitor token. Only a one-way hash of that token and a coarse mobile-or-computer category are stored for each day you play; the raw token, full browser details, and your IP address are not stored in the analytics tables. Daily count records are removed after 90 days.

The hosting provider may still process standard request data such as IP address, browser details, requested pages, and timestamps for security, reliability, and operational logs.

You can remove locally stored progress and the visitor token by clearing this site's browser data.
