How to convert an audio file
- Choose or drop an audio file. Most formats work, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WMA, AIFF and the audio track of a video.
- Pick the format you want and, for MP3, M4A, OGG and Opus, the quality.
- Press Convert. The new file downloads straight away.
Which format should I pick?
- MP3 plays everywhere. 192 kbps sounds the same as the original to most listeners.
- WAV is uncompressed, so it is large but loses nothing. Use it for editing software and CD burning.
- M4A (AAC) is what Apple devices prefer, and is a little smaller than MP3 at the same quality.
- FLAC is lossless like WAV but about half the size.
- OGG and Opus are open formats used by games, Discord, Android and the web. Opus is the most efficient.
Questions
Is the converter really free?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert, other than a short pause if one connection sends a very large number of files.
Do you keep my files?
No. The file is converted in a temporary folder that is deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you.
Will converting MP3 to WAV improve the quality?
No. Converting can't restore detail that was removed when the MP3 was made, but WAV is useful when a program or device needs it.
Can I convert a video to MP3?
Yes. Upload an MP4, MOV or WebM file and the converter keeps only its audio track.
