How to make an audiogram
- Choose a song, podcast episode or voice memo. Videos work too.
- Tap the waveform to pick where your clip starts, and choose how long it is.
- Pick a size, colours, wave style and font, and add a title and a cover photo if you like. Press play to see it move.
- Press Make my video. The video records in real time, so a 30 second clip takes 30 seconds. Keep the page open until it's done, then download or share it.
Which size should I pick?
- 9:16 fills a phone screen: TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Stories.
- 4:5 takes up the most room in the Instagram and Facebook feed.
- 1:1 works almost everywhere, including X and LinkedIn.
- 16:9 is for YouTube videos and anything watched on a laptop or TV.
Questions
What is an audiogram?
A short video of an audio clip with a waveform that moves to the sound, usually with a title and cover art. Podcasters and musicians use them to share audio on apps that only play video.
What format is the video?
MP4 in Safari, Chrome and Edge, which uploads straight to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Firefox makes a WebM file, which YouTube accepts; for other apps, make it in Chrome or Safari instead.
Why does it take as long as the clip?
Your browser plays the clip and films the animation as it goes, so the video is made on your device. Keep this page open and on screen while it records.
Can I put the waveform on top of my own video?
Yes. Choose Green screen (or Blue screen if your video has a lot of green) under Look, make the audiogram, then add it on top of your clip in CapCut, TikTok, Premiere Pro, Final Cut or iMovie and use the Chroma Key or Green Screen effect to remove the background.
Is there a watermark?
No. You can add a small soundbytes.io credit if you'd like to, but it's off unless you turn it on.
